For today’s session I have chosen a few exercises to practice speaking two consonants clearly: ‘b’ and ‘p’. As always, please warm up your voice before you do the vocal exercises. You can refer to my previous audio files for these.

Also, please warm up the jaw before you start:

  • Massage your lower jaw with your fingertips a few times.
  • Now make a few chewing movements with your jaw, as if you are chewing on a large piece of gum.
  • Open and close your mouth widely a few times.

  1. Now let us practice the p sound as in pipe, copper, pool, peanuts, pepper, pickles

Let us do a few exercises to increase the flexibility of our lips, specifically for the “p”-sound:

Pap pap, pap x3

Pip pip pip x3

Pep, pep pep x3

Pop pop pop 3x

Pawp pawp, pawp X3

Peep peep peep X3

Pipe pipe pipe x3

Pope pope pope X3

Pip-pety pip-pety pip-pety

Poop poop poop X3

And here is a wonderful tongue twister:

Peter Piper picked a peck of pickled pepper

If Peter Piper picked a peck of pickled pepper

Where is the peck of pickled pepper Peter Piper picked?

Now let us practice the b sound, as in box, dabble, beetle, boom, blog, beauty

Let us do a few exercises to increase the flexibility of our lips, specifically for the b”-sound:

Bob bob bob x3

Bib bib bib x3

Beb beb beb x3

Bub bub bub x3

Bab bab bab x3

Bawb bawb bawb x3

Boob boob boob x3

Beeb beeb beeb x3

Bibe bibe bibe x3

Bobe bobe bobe x3

And here is a lovely silly tongue twister to practice the ‘b’ sound:

In hope that you are having fun with these little exercises. Please join me for the next session where we will practice the vowels sounds “oo” and “ou”
